World’s First Off-Road Solar-Power SUV Goes 620 Miles Without Charging

A car known as the “world’s first off-road solar-powered vehicle” has successfully completed a 1000km test drive through Morocco and the Sahara. This two-seat vehicle, called Stella Terra and created by students from the Eindhoven University of Technology, managed the journey across various terrains.

The khaki-green SUV is equipped with solar panels on its roof that charge its electric battery, allowing it to travel long distances solely using solar power. It has a top speed of 145kph, weighs 1200kg, and can cover a minimum of 710km on a sunny day.

This capability makes it suitable for connecting remote areas with less developed roads and unreliable energy grids.
