Shahid Rassam, a Karachi-based artist, and his team are working on a wonderful project using aluminium and gold to create the world’s largest replica of the Holy Quran.
By 2026, the once-in-a-lifetime project would be done. Rassam, on the other hand, will present Surah Rahman, the first taste of his artwork, at the ongoing Dubai Expo 2020 in November.
The Quran is being cast in aluminium for the first time in more than 1,400 years of Islamic history. The Quran is traditionally inscribed on cloth, paper, or leather.
The largest copy of the Quran will be made with about 200 kilos of gold, 2,000 kilogrammes of aluminium, and 600 canvas rolls. The artist also incorporates valuable stones such as rubies, sapphires, and emeralds into his work.
