During its first full test flight without any passengers, the most powerful rocket ever built reached certain milestones but fell short of other objectives.
Minutes after launching from a launchpad in South Texas on Thursday, SpaceX’s Starship rocket detonated. Even if it was unable to enter orbit, the private spaceflight business did not lose everything.
Elon Musk, the company’s creator, had tempered expectations prior to the launch by stating that it could take several tries for Starship to be successful during this test flight.
