The upcoming season nine of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will see young West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph joining Peshawar Zalmi as a temporary replacement for England’s Gus Atkinson. This news was officially announced by the PSL on their social media platforms.
Javed Afridi, the owner of Zalmi, had previously teased Joseph’s arrival by sharing a franchise shirt featuring the Test wickets (13) he secured during his debut series in Australia. The 24-year-old played a significant role in West Indies’ historic Test win against Australia, marking their first victory there since 1997 and their first over Australia since 2023. Despite facing a toe injury in just his second Test, Joseph delivered an exceptional seven-wicket performance at the Gabba.
Currently participating in UAE’s ILT20 for Dubai Capitals, Joseph’s addition to Peshawar Zalmi brings an exciting dynamic to the team. The Replacement Draft recently held saw several supplementary and replacement players added to the six PSL squads, enhancing the anticipation for the upcoming season.
