180,000 KP Residents Treated in Other Parts of Country Under Health Card Scheme

Since its inception in 2016, the Sehat Card Plus initiative has provided vital healthcare support to over 2.715 million individuals, including more than 180,000 residents from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), who received free medical treatment across various parts of Pakistan.

This initiative, backed by KP’s substantial investment of Rs81 billion, has significantly eased the financial burden of healthcare expenses for patients from the region.

The program facilitates access to medical services in over 700 hospitals nationwide, offering families an annual coverage of up to Rs1 million. This coverage has proven crucial for KP residents seeking specialized treatments, including liver and renal transplants, which were often performed in hospitals located outside their home province due to limited local facilities.

The Sehat Card Plus not only supports healthcare within Pakistan but also extends its benefits to patients needing medical attention abroad. With a dedicated allocation of Rs37 billion, the initiative underscores KP’s commitment to ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for its residents, fostering a healthier and more resilient community.
