A group of 36 runners from Pakistan and of Pakistani descent are set to participate in the 2024 New York City Marathon on Sunday. They will join nearly 50,000 athletes from around the world in this renowned event, which is part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors and features a challenging route through all five boroughs of New York City.
For these Pakistani runners, the marathon is not just a test of endurance; it’s also an opportunity to represent their country on a global stage. Before the race, the runners proudly showed their national spirit during the Parade of Nations, where Shoaib Nizami led the group while waving the Pakistani flag. Some participants also carried Palestinian flags to show their support.
The team includes both experienced marathoners and newcomers, like Dr. Salman Khan, Jamal Khan, and Shazia Nawaz, all ready to demonstrate their commitment and strength in this prestigious race. They are excited to take part in this significant event, hoping to inspire others and make their country proud as they run through the streets of New York City.
