Punjab Issues Driving Licences to Over 856,000 Citizens in One Month

Punjab has recorded a 34 percent increase in driving licence services, with more than 856,000 citizens using licensing facilities across the province during the last month.

According to officials, Lahore accounted for more than 139,000 driving licences issued during the period. The figures also showed strong demand for learner and regular licences, with over 441,000 citizens obtaining learner’s licences and more than 200,000 receiving regular driving licences.

A significant number of citizens also used renewal services. More than 217,000 people renewed their learner’s, regular or international driving licences during the month.

The province also issued more than 3,600 international driving permits, providing residents with documentation required for driving in other countries where applicable.

Digital licensing services recorded an even sharper increase during the same period. Online services witnessed growth of 168 percent, indicating a rising number of citizens using digital options instead of relying solely on traditional licensing facilities.

More than 400,000 citizens also downloaded the e-driving licence app, reflecting growing interest in accessing licensing-related services through digital platforms.

The latest figures show increasing use of both physical and online driving licence services across Punjab. The rise in digital usage suggests that more citizens are turning to technology for licensing and related processes.

Officials have continued to expand digital access to public services, allowing citizens to obtain information and manage certain licensing requirements through online platforms. The growing use of the e-driving licence app is another indication of the increasing role of digital services in Punjab’s licensing system.
