5.5 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Islamabad, Peshawar and Parts of KP

A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan on Saturday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. The earthquake caused tremors that were felt in several parts of Pakistan.

Residents in Islamabad and Peshawar reported feeling the shaking. The tremors were also experienced in multiple areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, creating concern among local communities.

Other regions where the earthquake was felt include Swat, Hangu, North Waziristan, and Chitral. People in these areas reported mild to moderate shaking, with some stepping out of their homes and offices as a precaution.

Tremors were also felt in Rawalpindi, where residents noticed brief shaking. However, there were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries.

Officials said that earthquakes in the Hindu Kush region are not uncommon due to its active seismic zone. The depth and location of the quake helped spread its effects across a wide area, including parts of Pakistan.

Authorities have advised people to remain calm and follow safety measures during such situations. Emergency teams are monitoring the situation to respond quickly if needed.
