According to the reports by official sources, The PMRA- Punjab Motor Registration Authority of ETD- Excise and Taxation Department of Punjab charge motorists an excessive amount of over RS 360 million as in the transfer deed annual charges.
A transfer deed of ownership that is mandatory for seeking a change in ownership of vehicles is available at PMRA and costs motorist RS 300.
A spokesperson for ETD while speaking on this matter said that all of these earnings from the sale of transfer deeds are just kept in revolving fund and these are spent on the different projects of the ETD.
It was further added that these earnings do not directly go to anyone specifically but are simply deposited in state treasury that is also audited on annual basis.
