Seven police officers in Gujranwala have been arrested following allegations that they tortured a serving Pakistan Army soldier, Abdul Haq, along with his father and two brothers.
The incident has raised concerns over the alleged mistreatment of the soldier and his family members, while authorities have initiated legal proceedings against the accused personnel.
According to the family, the incident began when police officers questioned Abdul Haq, which reportedly led to a heated argument between the parties.
The situation allegedly escalated, with the family accusing the officers of physically assaulting the soldier and his relatives. They further claimed that the officers took them to a police post, where they were subjected to further beating.
The family has alleged that the incident involved the use of force against all four individuals. However, the precise circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the sequence of events leading to the alleged assault have yet to be independently established.
Police officials confirmed that a case was registered on October 10 in connection with the incident. All seven police personnel accused in the case have been arrested, and legal proceedings are currently underway.
The case is expected to proceed through the relevant legal process as authorities examine the allegations and determine the facts.
The allegations have drawn attention to the importance of accountability and the proper treatment of citizens during police interactions.
While the family has accused the officers of torture, the claims have not yet been independently verified, and the accused personnel’s guilt has not been established through a court verdict.
