727,381 Workers Leave Pakistan for Overseas Employment in 2024

Manpower exports have become a key part of Pakistan’s economy, with millions of Pakistanis working abroad and sending money back home.

In 2024, 727,381 Pakistanis moved overseas for better job opportunities. This was a 15% drop compared to 2023. Most workers went to the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia and the UAE, to work in industries like construction, healthcare, and IT.

Despite fewer workers going abroad, remittances from overseas Pakistanis increased significantly. They sent back $34.634 billion in 2024, which was 31.36% higher than in 2023.

These remittances are crucial for Pakistan’s economy as they help pay for foreign goods and services, while also supporting local spending during tough economic times.

For Pakistan, remittances serve as a financial cushion, providing stability during periods of economic difficulty. They not only benefit the families of workers but also play an essential role in keeping the country’s economy afloat.
