According to Gwadar Pro, 79 percent of construction on motorways and 68 percent on highways on the eastern and western portions of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been completed.
The Western and Eastern routes will both connect Khunjerab Pass and Gwadar.
The common alignment for the three eastern, western, and central roads, comprising a 790-kilometer road from Khunjerab to Burhan and a 193-kilometer road from Hoshab to Gwadar, has already been constructed.
Burhan will be located at the crossroads of the Eastern and Western Alignments. According to officials, the extent of the Eastern route from Islamabad to Karachi is 1,419 km, of which 79 percent is completed on motorways and the remaining 21 percent is 306 km Sukkur-Hyderabad freeway.
This is the sole area remaining on the CPEC’s eastern route. The Sukkur-Hyderabad highway is expected to be finished within the next 30 months. The company that won the bidding has already been given permission to begin construction.
