Women to Get Designated Spaces For Prayers in Sindh Mosques

In a groundbreaking move, the Sindh government, under the leadership of Minister for Law and Auqaf, Umar Soomro, has taken a significant step towards fostering inclusivity in religious spaces. The decision involves allocating designated areas for women to offer prayers in 77 mosques under the jurisdiction of the Auqaf Religious Affairs Zakat & Ushr Department.

This initiative stems from a meeting that primarily focused on registering mosques and madrassahs across the province, emphasizing the importance of creating an inclusive environment for female worshippers. The move is a commendable stride towards promoting gender equality in a traditionally male-dominated domain.

To ensure widespread awareness, the Department of Auqaf plans to launch a comprehensive campaign in multiple languages, including English, Urdu, Sindhi, and Gujarati. This strategic approach aims to reach a diverse audience across the province, fostering understanding and acceptance of the importance of providing women with dedicated spaces for prayer. Overall, the decision reflects a commitment to progressive values, acknowledging the significance of inclusivity in religious practices.
