KP IT Board to give 2,500 women training in digital skills

In its second stage, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board began training 2,500 women from across the province; they intend to make these women competent in the field of IT and equip them with the skills required to catapult KP and Pakistan into the digital age.

KP’s Digital Employment is an initiative initiated within the province by the KPITB; this training programme comes under that initiative. The ‘Gender Empowerment by Digital Skills’ programme aims to train women in all seven KP divisions.

Courses in the training programme concentrate on employable technical skills to close the divide in the digital age between male and female workers.

There are women qualified to apply who are 18-30 years of age. These women must also have a domicile dependent on KP and at least have an intermediate degree.

Classes are currently being conducted both in person and online, taking into account the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in the region.

From many courses that are offered, applicants get to choose themselves. These courses include: Social Media Marketing, Graphic Designing, Design and Creation of WordPress, Usability of Blogging & Content Writing and Digital Resources.

Ziaullah Khan Bangash, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Science and IT of the KP, praised the initiative taken by the KPITB and said it could play a vital role for women to take advantage of the opportunities for digital jobs.

The Advisor also told the government that these measures will continue to be taken in the future and said he hopes other provincial governments will do the same.
