On Saturday, Federal Minister for Marine Affairs Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh inaugurated the Free Zone Agriculture Industrial Park in Gwadar. The opening ceremony took place at the China Business Center and was attended by Chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority, Pansad Khan Bilidi, and Chairman of the China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPAC).
Minister Sheikh spoke about the importance of his visit, which was done on the special instructions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. He mentioned the need to speed up the progress of Gwadar’s big projects. Minister Sheikh talked about various essential projects in Gwadar, like providing electricity, building dams, desalination plants, roads, and hospitals.
He also talked about the commitment of both the federal and provincial governments to finish these projects quickly. Minister Sheikh thanked China for their help in setting up a desalination plant in the free zone. This plant will give 1.2 million gallons of water every day to the people of Gwadar.
The Chairman of China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC) said he was proud of the good work Pakistan and China are doing together on economic corridor projects. He mentioned how strong the friendship between Pakistan and China is, and how it’s shown in completing these projects.
