Residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad got a welcome break from the recent heat as heavy rainfall swept across the twin cities, bringing cooler and more pleasant weather.
Several areas received significant rainfall, with Bokra recording 42mm, while Golra and New Katarian each received 36mm. Shamsabad recorded 35mm, followed by Pirwadhai with 34mm and Saidpur with 15mm.
The rainfall also prompted authorities to step up precautionary measures in Rawalpindi. The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) was placed on high alert, with teams deployed at vulnerable locations, particularly around Nullah Lai and other low-lying areas where water accumulation could occur.
Heavy machinery was also kept on standby to respond quickly if rainwater collected on roads or in residential areas. Officials said field teams were monitoring the situation and remained prepared to deal with any emergency caused by the continued rainfall.
Water levels at key points, including Katarian and Gujjar Mandi Bridge, were also being closely watched by the authorities. The monitoring is aimed at ensuring timely action if water levels rise significantly.
The spell of rain has eased the intense heat and provided residents with more comfortable weather conditions across Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Authorities, meanwhile, have advised continued vigilance in areas vulnerable to water accumulation as rainfall activity continues.
