‘Umar Got Better Stats than Virat Kohli in T20 WC’, Kamran Akmal Makes Startling Claim Regarding His Brother

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal recently made a surprising claim about his brother Umar Akmal’s performance in the T20 World Cup compared to India’s Virat Kohli. Kamran’s remarks came after Pakistan’s exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, which was finalized when the match between the United States and Ireland in Florida was called off due to rain.

This washout resulted in both teams being awarded one point each, allowing the USA to qualify for the Super 8 stage instead of Pakistan.

Speaking on a local media channel, Kamran Akmal asserted that Umar Akmal has better T20 World Cup statistics than Virat Kohli. He stated that, according to the data he received, Umar has a higher strike rate and average in the T20 World Cup compared to Kohli.

“I got the stats yesterday,” Kamran said. “I’m talking about Umar [Akmal]. In T20 World Cups, Umar has better numbers than Virat Kohli. Although he doesn’t have the same level of performance and presence as Kohli, his strike rate and highest score in T20 World Cups are superior.”

Kamran further emphasized that if any player from the current Pakistan T20 World Cup squad had similar stats to Umar’s, it would have caused a significant stir on social media, thanks to PR agencies promoting their achievements.

“And because we don’t have PR companies promoting our players, we don’t see our stats and performances highlighted on social media,” Kamran continued. “Imagine if these stats belonged to any of the current 15 players in the squad. There would have been a major social media buzz, and they might have even compared themselves to Virat Kohli.”
