Pakistan earned $2.593 billion from exporting IT services in the first ten months of FY 2023-24. This marked a significant increase of 20.41% compared to $2.135 billion earned in the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Exports of computer services saw a robust growth of 24.55%, reaching $2.153 billion from $1.729 billion previously. Software consultancy exports also grew, showing an increase of 10.80%, while hardware consultancy exports rose by 19.24%.
Information services exports experienced a substantial surge of 105.90%. Leading this growth was news agency services, which increased by 167.58%.
Telecommunication services exports showed an overall rise of 7.04%. Within this category, call center services saw a notable increase of 17.59%. However, other telecom services saw a slight decrease of 1.56%.
These statistics highlight the expanding role of Pakistan’s IT sector in global markets. The significant increases in various IT service categories demonstrate the sector’s resilience and growth potential, contributing positively to the country’s economy.
