The CDA has issued a notice concerning alleged encroachments at Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s Islamabad residence, allowing 15 days for their removal before the authority takes action itself. Addressed to property owner Amanullah, the notice also identifies the residence’s kitchen as a breach of building rules.
What the notice identifies
The notice calls for the removal of structures and equipment occupying a green area at the property. It identifies the following issues:
- A security guard cabin built in the green area, which the CDA has directed the owner to remove.
- A generator in the green area, which must also be removed.
- A kitchen at the residence that the authority says violates building rules.
The authority has set a 15-day deadline to clear the encroachments. Its notice states that the CDA will carry out enforcement action itself once that period has passed.
Minister calls it routine enforcement
State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry described the notice as a routine step in the anti-encroachment campaign underway across the capital. He also said religion or politics should not be used to defend unlawful activities.
