Historic! All-Female Flight with Passengers and Crew Lands in Mashhad, Iran for First Time

An all-female flight by Aseman Airlines made history on Sunday when it landed at Mashhad’s Hasheminejad International Airport in Iran. The flight, named “Iran Banoo” (which translates to “Iran Lady”), was captained by Shahrzad Shams, one of Iran’s trailblazing female pilots. It carried 110 passengers and was the first flight with both an all-female crew and female passengers to reach the airport near the famous Imam Reza shrine.

This historic event was timed to coincide with National Women’s Day and Mother’s Day in Iran, celebrated on the birth anniversary of Fatima al-Zahra, a revered figure in Islamic history. The occasion added a special meaning to the milestone, as it highlighted the growing role of women in the aviation industry.

Although female pilots are still a small group in Iran, their numbers have been steadily increasing in recent years. Shahrzad Shams, who played a key role in this achievement, is widely recognized for her dedication and contributions to the field of aviation in the country. This flight marks an important step forward for gender representation in the skies of Iran.
