Pakistan Earns $2.1 Billion Through IT Services Exports

Pakistan’s IT sector is growing fast, earning $2.177 billion (PKR 607.7 billion) from exports in the first seven months of fiscal year 2024-25. This marks a 26.53% increase compared to the same period last year.

The biggest contributor to this growth was computer services, which saw a 32.72% rise, reaching $1.855 billion (PKR 517.9 billion). Within this category, software consultancy services performed exceptionally well, growing by 35.51%. A major highlight was the information services sector, which experienced an astonishing 736.66% increase, showing Pakistan’s strength in digital transformation.

However, not all areas saw growth. Telecommunication services declined by 5.05%, mainly due to a drop in other telecom-related exports. Despite this, the overall performance of the IT sector remained strong.

Pakistan’s IT exports are playing a key role in boosting the economy. The rapid expansion of software services, consultancy, and information technology highlights the country’s increasing global presence in the digital world. This growth reflects Pakistan’s potential to become a major player in the international IT market.
