The federal government has given the green light to build a new hostel for working women in Islamabad, in Sector I-9/4. This step was taken on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board has approved a plan to convert an existing Special Education Center in the area into a hostel.
This decision was made after both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Rights raised concerns about the lack of affordable housing for working women in the city. Many women come to Islamabad from smaller towns and rural areas for jobs and need safe and reasonably priced places to live. The new hostel is being set up to help meet that need by offering secure and comfortable accommodation at an affordable cost.
This move is seen as an important step toward supporting women who are working away from home and may not have access to proper housing. By creating a space just for working women, the government hopes to make it easier for them to focus on their jobs and careers without worrying about where to live.
In another important development, the federal government has also decided to begin using solar energy in public hospitals in Islamabad. This change is aimed at cutting down on electricity costs and promoting clean, renewable energy. The solar project will start with two major hospitals — PIMS Hospital and Poly Clinic — which will begin using solar power as part of the first phase of the plan.
Together, these two decisions reflect the government’s focus on both social support and environmental responsibility. On one hand, they are helping working women by providing safer living conditions, and on the other, they are taking steps to reduce energy costs and protect the environment through the use of solar power.
