Pakistan has completed the construction of its first-ever road that can generate electricity, marking a major milestone in the country’s infrastructure and technological development. The road, named Route 47, is located in Lahore and stretches over 4.5 kilometers. It passes through Kalma Chowk and links several of the city’s important roads, including Ferozepur Road, Gulberg Boulevard, and Walton Road.
This impressive project cost Rs9 billion and was developed by the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority, also known as CBD Punjab. One of the most exciting features of Route 47 is its smart design. The sidewalks are powered by solar energy and can generate up to 1 megawatt of electricity, making it an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient project.
In addition to generating electricity, the road has been carefully designed to meet modern urban needs. It includes separate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, making it safer and more accessible for everyone. The road also features a flyover to help reduce traffic congestion and includes systems to prevent flooding during heavy rains.
