Massive! ICC Announces Record $5.76 Million Prize Pool for World Test Championship Final

ICC has announced a record-breaking prize money of $5.76 million for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023–25. This is the biggest prize pool ever for a WTC final and shows the ICC’s strong support for Test cricket.

The final match will take place at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London from June 11 to June 15. It will be played between Australia and South Africa. The team that wins the championship will receive $3.6 million, while the team that comes in second will still take home more than $2.1 million.

This is a big jump from the previous prize amounts. In earlier WTC editions, the winning team got $1.6 million, and the runner-up received $800,000. By increasing the prize money, the ICC hopes to make Test cricket more exciting and rewarding for teams and players.

The ICC’s decision highlights their focus on keeping the longest format of the game alive and respected. It also gives teams a bigger goal to aim for and motivates players to perform at their best. Fans around the world are now looking forward to an intense and high-stakes final between two top teams.
