‘Pakistani Troops Are in Saudi Arabia Under Makkah Agreement’: Confirms DG ISPR

Pakistan has confirmed that its troops are currently stationed in Saudi Arabia under the framework of the Makkah Agreement, highlighting the longstanding defence partnership between the two countries.

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed the deployment while speaking to US media.

He said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have maintained defence cooperation for decades, with military personnel from Pakistan serving in different roles and domains in the Kingdom.

The deployment comes as part of the broader security and defence relationship between Islamabad and Riyadh, which has developed over many years through military cooperation, training and other forms of strategic engagement.

The confirmation also provides further insight into the scope of the defence ties between the two countries under the Makkah Agreement.
