Pakistan’s Sesame Exports to China Soar to Record Highs in Early 2025

Pakistan has achieved a remarkable milestone in its agricultural trade with China, with sesame seed exports reaching $48.58 million in just the first four months of 2025 – an astounding 337% increase compared to the same period last year.

This continues an incredible growth story: from being China’s 14th largest sesame supplier in 2019 to becomingthe 3rd largest by value and 2nd largest by volume in 2024.
Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi credits this success to: targeted government policies, advancements in agricultural research (AARI/ORI), effective trade diplomacy, and private sector initiative.

The future looks even brighter as Pakistan aims to enhance seed quality, develop value-added processing, expand e-commerce channels, and strengthen joint ventures.
With China’s sesame product market valued at $4.7-9.5 billion annually, there is more for Pakistani exporters to tap into!
