Pakistan’s national hockey team will take part in the upcoming Asia Cup, which is going to be held in India next month. The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 29 to September 7 in Rajgir, located in the Indian state of Bihar.
The Indian government, including the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs, has officially given approval for Pakistan’s participation in the event. This decision was made despite the ongoing political tensions between the two countries.
Officials from both sides have stated that international sports events like the Asia Cup should be treated separately from political and diplomatic matters. They emphasized that such tournaments bring together players from different nations and promote sportsmanship, regardless of any underlying issues between governments.
In addition, Hockey India has also requested permission for Pakistan to take part in the upcoming Junior World Cup. This step shows a continued effort to maintain sports relations even in difficult times.
However, it is important to note that a final decision has not yet been made regarding Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming Cricket Asia Cup, which is still under discussion.
