Pakistani Film ‘Deemark’ Wins Best Editing Award and Film ‘Nayab’ Receives Special Jury Award

At the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Film Festival held in Yangzhou, China, Pakistani films received special recognition and appreciation on an international stage. Two major Pakistani films, Deemak and Nayab, stood out and won prestigious awards, highlighting the growing talent and quality of the country’s film industry.

The film Deemak won the Best Editing Award at the festival. The award was received by director Rafay Rashdi and actress Sonya Hussyn, who represented the film at the event. Deemak features a powerful ensemble cast, including veteran actors Javed Sheikh, Samina Peerzada, Bushra Ansari, and Faisal Qureshi. The movie explores intense and complex relationships within a family, especially between in-laws, making it both emotional and relatable for many viewers.

Another Pakistani film, Nayab, also made a strong impression at the festival. It received the Special Jury Award, which was presented to director Umair Nasir Ali and actor Usama Khan. Nayab stars Yumna Zaidi and Fawad Khan in lead roles and tells the inspiring story of a young girl who dreams of becoming a cricketer. The film highlights the social and cultural barriers that she has to overcome in order to pursue her passion, making it a touching and motivational story.
