Punjab has instructed its waste management companies, including the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC), to join hands with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) to keep a closer watch on city cleanliness in Lahore.
Under this plan, staff will be stationed at the PSCA’s advanced control center, where they will monitor live camera footage around the city. This will help them quickly spot garbage piles, ille_gal waste dumping, and any delays in waste collection.
This step builds on the earlier partnership between PSCA and LWMC, which focuses on using technology to check sanitation more effectively.
Now, the Safe City cameras that were first used to help the police with security and traffic are also helping to keep Lahore clean — especially during busy times like Eid when waste management becomes even more challenging.
Currently, this smart monitoring system is active in 19 districts of Punjab. The goal is to expand it further, with plans to install around 5,000 cameras across key areas by the middle of 2025.
Officials believe this system will make it easier to catch sanitation problems early and take quick action to fix them. By having real-time updates, the city’s waste management teams can respond faster and make sure streets stay clean and free from ille_gal dumping sites.
This combined effort of technology and teamwork shows how Punjab is trying to improve its cities’ cleanliness and offer people a healthier, cleaner environment to live in.
