India defeated Pakistan by six wickets in their Super Four encounter at the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup on Sunday, September 21, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The win came after India chased down Pakistan’s target of 172 runs with seven balls to spare.
Batting first, Pakistan posted 171 for five in their 20 overs — their highest T20I score against India when batting first. Sahibzada Farhan was the standout performer for Pakistan, scoring 58 runs off 45 balls with five fours and three sixes. Contributions from Hussain Talat, Salman Ali Agha, and Faheem Ashraf added crucial runs in the final overs, giving Pakistan a competitive total.
India’s chase got off to a steady start as their top order built partnerships to keep the required run rate under control.
Despite losing wickets at key stages, the Indian batting lineup maintained composure. Strong middle-order batting ensured they stayed on track for the chase, with calculated boundaries and quick running between the wickets.
The turning point came in the closing overs when Indian batters accelerated, leaving little pressure for the final few balls. The winning runs were scored with more than an over remaining, underlining India’s control over the chase.
For Pakistan, Shivam Dube was the most effective bowler, taking two wickets. However, the bowlers were unable to defend the total against India’s consistent batting effort.
With this victory, India secured valuable points in the Super Four stage, boosting their chances of reaching the final. Pakistan meanwhile, will need to bounce back strongly in their upcoming matches to keep their hopes alive.
