UAE has announced new updates to its visa system bringing more opportunities for visitors, professionals and families. The changes aim to support the country’s vision of attracting global talent, boosting tourism and strengthening its role as a hub for innovation and culture.
New Visa Categories Introduced
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has added four new types of visit visas. These include:
- Specialist Visa: Designed for experts in artificial intelligence and technology issued with a letter from a sponsoring company.
- Entertainment Visa: For foreigners visiting temporarily to perform or participate in entertainment activities.
- Event Visa: For those attending conferences, exhibitions, cultural programs, festivals or sports events.
- Tourist Cruise Visa: Multiple-entry visas for travelers arriving through cruise ships and pleasure boats with an itinerary required.
Updated Rules for Existing Visas
Several existing visa categories have also been revised:
- Truck Drivers: Eligible for single or multiple-trip visas if sponsored by a licensed transport company and covered with health insurance.
- Visiting Relatives or Friends: New income requirements have been introduced for sponsors, starting from AED 4,000 depending on the relationship.
- Business Exploration Visa: Applicants must now show financial stability to explore opportunities in the UAE.
Humanitarian and Family Cases
The UAE has also outlined clear rules for humanitarian situations. A one-year visa will be granted to individuals from conflict-affected countries, with possible extensions. Widows and divorced women can now apply for residency for themselves and their children provided financial and housing conditions are met.
Officials highlighted that these updates reflect the UAE’s commitment to remain flexible, responsive and welcoming to people from all over the world. The new system not only simplifies procedures but also ensures transparency and better services for applicants.
With these changes, the UAE continues to strengthen its global appeal, offering smoother pathways for talent, families and tourists alike.
