Pakistan Will Provide Defense Support to Saudi Arabia at Any Cost: DG ISPR

Pakistan will provide all necessary defence support to Saudi Arabia to protect its sovereignty, territory and holy sites, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said.

In an interview with Independent Arabia aired on October 18, 2026, the military spokesperson described Saudi Arabia’s security and the protection of the Two Holy Mosques as non-negotiable priorities for Pakistan. He confirmed that the country was already providing the required support and would continue to do so.

His remarks come amid growing tensions following attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels against Saudi Arabia. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have longstanding defence ties, strengthened by their bilateral Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement. Both countries are also part of the Makkah Joint Defence Alliance, which includes Türkiye.

Lt Gen Chaudhry said the alliance was established to promote regional peace, stability and security, stressing that it was defensive in nature. He also explained that details about the type and scale of military assistance would remain confidential.

Pakistan has also called for restraint and diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation in the region, while maintaining its commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security.
