FBR Extends Income Tax Filing Deadline by 16 Days

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced another extension for filing income tax returns for the tax year 2025, moving the deadline to October 31, 2025.

This decision gives taxpayers an additional 16 days to complete their filings, providing much-needed relief for individuals and businesses struggling to meet the earlier cutoff.

According to the FBR spokesperson, the extension was approved after several appeals from trade bodies, tax bar associations, and the general public, who requested more time due to technical issues and documentation delays.

The move reflects FBR’s ongoing efforts to promote ease of compliance and encourage voluntary participation in the tax system.

Originally, the deadline had been extended once already to October 15, but with many filers still unable to complete the process, FBR decided to provide an additional grace period. Tax authorities have urged citizens to take advantage of the extension and avoid waiting until the last day to file returns.

Officials added that FBR is continuing to upgrade its online filing system to handle the growing number of submissions and reduce errors during peak hours.

This latest decision not only supports taxpayers but also aims to improve Pakistan’s overall tax culture, encouraging transparency and timely compliance across all sectors.
