Pakistan Navy Takes Honorary Guard Duties at Iqbal’s Mausoleum

A graceful changing of guard ceremony was held at Allama Iqbal’s Mausoleum in Lahore on Sunday, marking the symbolic handover of duties from the Punjab Rangers to the Pakistan Navy.

The event began with a formal parade as the Navy contingent assumed honorary guard responsibilities, continuing the tradition of paying tribute to the national poet, philosopher, and visionary leader Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmi, Commander Central Punjab, Pakistan Navy, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. He inspected the parade and reviewed the contingents of both the Pakistan Rangers and the Pakistan Navy during the official handover.

The Punjab Rangers, who had completed their ceremonial tenure, were formally relieved of their duties, allowing the Navy contingent to take over the prestigious responsibility of guarding the mausoleum.

The ceremony concluded with a salute at the tomb of Allama Iqbal, followed by prayers for the country’s peace, unity, and prosperity. Visitors and dignitaries present at the event praised the discipline and precision displayed by the Navy personnel.

This annual tradition, observed on Iqbal Day, serves as a tribute to Pakistan’s founding thinkers and highlights the armed forces’ shared commitment to honoring national heroes. It reflects the nation’s deep respect for Allama Iqbal’s vision of a free, progressive, and united Pakistan.
