Heavy rains in Gaza have caused severe flooding across multiple refugee camps, submerging tents and destroying essential belongings of families already facing extreme hardship. The sudden downpour turned temporary shelters into pools of muddy water, leaving thousands struggling to protect what little they had.
According to residents, the flooding swept through the camps overnight, soaking mattresses, clothes, food supplies, and children’s school materials. Many families said they were unable to save anything as the water rose quickly, collapsing fragile tents and washing away personal items.
Those affected shared heartbreaking stories of losing the few possessions they managed to hold onto during months of conflict and displacement. Parents described their fear as cold water entered the tents, while children tried to stay dry in areas where the ground had completely given way.
Local volunteers and aid workers tried to provide support, but the scale of the damage has made recovery extremely difficult. With shelter materials already limited, many families now have no dry place to sleep and no protection from winter weather.
The flooding has once again highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where displaced families continue to endure harsh living conditions with minimal resources.
Aid agencies are calling for urgent assistance to provide waterproof tents, blankets, and emergency supplies to help families rebuild what the rains have destroyed.
