Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of an incident involving the use of a royal carriage by Islamabad’s Chief Commissioner and Inspector General during an official ceremony held on August 14.
The two officials arrived at the event using the carriage, a move that prompted concerns within the government over how their appearance could be perceived by the public.
Following the incident, the Establishment Division issued separate written warnings to both officials. The notices reportedly raised concerns that their use of the carriage could give an impression of privilege and unnecessary display during a national ceremony.
The Establishment Division stressed that government officials are expected to maintain humility, restraint and dignity while carrying out their official responsibilities. It also highlighted the importance of exercising sound judgment, particularly during public events.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed both officials to show greater caution in the future and ensure that similar conduct is not repeated.
The incident has drawn attention to the standards expected from senior public servants, particularly at official events where their conduct is closely observed by the public.
