Murree Glass Train Routes and Fares Announced

The Punjab Masstransit Authority has shared new details about the much-anticipated Murree Glass Train, giving the public a clearer picture of how the electric monorail will operate once completed. The project is being introduced as a cleaner and faster way to travel between Islamabad and Murree, aiming to reduce road traffic while offering tourists a more enjoyable journey.

According to the authority, the monorail will begin its route inside Islamabad and climb toward Murree through a series of elevated tracks. The journey has been designed to highlight the natural beauty of the region, as the glass-covered cabins will allow passengers to enjoy uninterrupted mountain views throughout the trip.

The train will make stops at four key locations, creating convenient access points for both locals and visitors. These stops include the starting point near Lake View Park, a second station close to Chattar Park, another at Ghora Gali, and a final arrival area near the Murree bus stand. Each stop is expected to support tourist movement and reduce vehicle pressure on the main Murree Expressway.

PMA has also confirmed the basic fare structure. The standard ticket is set at Rs. 500, while a premium ticket, offering enhanced comfort, is priced at Rs. 1,000. Both categories are intended to keep the service affordable while also giving travelers additional options.

The Glass Train will operate entirely on electricity, which the department says will help cut fuel consumption and lower emissions. Officials believe the project will not only improve travel efficiency but also add a modern attraction to the region’s tourism landscape.

The authority has stated that more information on the launch date, trial runs and daily schedule will be shared as work progresses.
