The Babusar–Naran Road has been closed for all vehicles because of heavy snowfall and extremely cold weather, announced Deputy Commissioner Diamer, Attaur Rehman Kakhar, on November 29.
Babusar Top and surrounding areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are now unsafe for travel, as snow has made the roads slippery and dangerous.
Authorities say there are no immediate plans to clear the snow. Security forces in Diamer and nearby regions have also been withdrawn, leaving the area without on-site assistance. Officials strongly advise both travelers and local residents to avoid the road until conditions get better.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that the country will experience cold, dry weather, with the mountainous regions facing the harshest chill. Early mornings and late evenings are expected to be particularly cold, making travel more risky. Dense fog is also predicted, which could further reduce visibility and increase the chances of accidents.
Residents and travelers are urged to stay alert and take all necessary precautions if they must travel in hilly areas. Authorities have stressed the importance of following warnings and avoiding unnecessary trips to ensure safety.
At present, no timeline has been provided for reopening the road, as it will depend on weather improvement and snow clearance. People planning trips to Babusar, Naran, or nearby tourist spots should postpone their plans until the road is officially declared safe.
With winter conditions expected to continue, locals and tourists are reminded to remain cautious, follow official updates and stay indoors when possible. The focus remains on safety, as icy and foggy roads can be extremely hazardous.
