Over 21,000 Pakistanis Are Currently Imprisoned in 12 Countries

More than 21,600 Pakistanis are currently jailed in different countries around the world, according to a written statement shared by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in the National Assembly. He explained that the largest number of prisoners is in Saudi Arabia, where over 10,700 Pakistanis are being held. The United Arab Emirates has the second-highest number, with more than 5,200 Pakistanis in custody, many of whom are still waiting for their cases to be decided.

The report also mentioned that 738 Pakistanis are in prisons across India. However, the Indian authorities have not provided information about the specific charges against them. In China, around 652 Pakistanis are facing various cases, mainly related to issues such as illegal immigration or fraud. These figures highlight the different kinds of legal problems Pakistanis encounter while living or traveling abroad.

Several other countries also have Pakistani nationals in their jails, including Qatar, Oman, Malaysia, Italy, Bahrain, Türkiye, the United States, and Afghanistan. The numbers show that many overseas Pakistanis continue to face legal, financial, and documentation challenges in foreign countries.
