Huge Announcement! PM Shahbaz Approves 100MW Solar Project to Transform Gilgit-Baltistan Forever

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given the green light for a major 100MW solar power project in Gilgit-Baltistan.

This initiative is part of a wider effort to improve electricity supply across the country, including significant projects in Gwadar, aimed at ensuring continuous and affordable power for residents and businesses.

The solar power plan in Gilgit-Baltistan will include both rooftop installations and large-scale solar systems. Officials have said that the project, which is expected to be completed by 2027, will not only provide clean energy but also help save around Rs1 billion every year.

These savings are likely to benefit both the government and local industries, supporting economic growth and creating new opportunities for businesses in the region.

In addition to the solar project, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the importance of major electricity initiatives in Gwadar. He directed all relevant institutions to work together closely to ensure a stable and reliable power supply.

According to the Prime Minister, having dependable electricity is critical for attracting investment, promoting industrial development, and boosting the overall economy in the region.

Officials have noted that improving power infrastructure in Gwadar and Gilgit-Baltistan will also enhance the quality of life for residents by reducing outages and electricity shortages.

The focus on renewable energy through solar projects reflects the government’s commitment to sustainable development while meeting the growing energy demands of these regions.

By combining renewable energy projects with strategic electricity planning, the government aims to strengthen energy security, encourage industrial growth, and provide a steady, affordable supply of electricity that will support both economic development and community well-being.
