Pakistan has been ranked 17th among 101 countries for generosity, according to the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy. The report shows that 73 percent of people in Pakistan donated money or goods in 2024. This figure is higher than the global average of 64 percent, showing that people in the country are more willing to help others despite economic difficulties.
The study explains that giving in Pakistan is mainly inspired by religious beliefs, compassion for others, and a strong sense of moral and social duty. Many people prefer to donate directly to individuals in need, which accounts for about 51 percent of all donations. Others choose to give to charitable organizations, making up 47 percent, while 34 percent donate to religious causes such as mosques or faith-based welfare activities. In many cases, people donate through more than one method.
Even though many Pakistanis face financial challenges and limited incomes, they continue to give generously. On average, people in Pakistan donate around 1.64 percent of their income, which is higher than the global average. This highlights a deep-rooted culture of helping others, especially through faith-based and compassionate giving.
The findings reflect the strong tradition of charity in Pakistani society, where supporting the poor and vulnerable is seen as both a religious responsibility and a human obligation.
