ADB appointed its new country director for Pakistan

On Tuesday, Yong Ye has been appointed as the ADB’s (Asian Development Bank) new Country Director for Pakistan, effective immediately. And he will be in charge of ADB’s Pakistan operations and the Pakistan Resident Mission in Islamabad.

According to a news statement published by the ADB, Yong Ye will also be in charge of implementing the ADB’s new national partnership strategy, 2021-2025, which focuses on enhancing economic management, developing resilience, and boosting competitiveness and private sector development.

Yong Ye expressed his delight at being appointed to lead ADB’s efforts in Pakistan.

He also expressed his desire to work closely with the government and other development partners to assist Pakistan in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic, restoring economic growth, improving people’s well-being, and meet its development goals.

ADB Director General for Central and West Asia Yevgeniy Zhukov said, “For more than 50 years, ADB has been a reliable partner of Pakistan and helping to alleviate poverty and focus on inclusive economic growth.”

“As ADB’s Country Director for Pakistan, Yong Ye contributes unique abilities, including an in-depth grasp of Pakistan’s economic and cultural environment, excellent strategic leadership skills, and the ability to effectively manage complex sovereign and private sector projects.”
