13 Buildings Declared Highly Dangerous in Lahore

Authorities in Lahore have declared 13 buildings extremely unsafe after conducting a detailed survey of 833 structures across the city.

The findings have raised serious concerns about public safety and the poor condition of some buildings, especially in busy and densely populated areas.

The results of the survey were shared during a meeting of the district emergency board, where officials discussed the risks posed by weak infrastructure.

Participants of the meeting stressed that urgent repair and maintenance work is needed to improve the condition of these buildings and prevent accidents such as collapses, fires, or other emergencies.

Officials warned that without timely action, these unsafe structures could pose a serious threat to lives and property. The authorities emphasized that building owners must take responsibility for carrying out necessary upgrades and ensuring their properties meet safety standards.

During the meeting, the deputy commissioner issued clear instructions for strict enforcement of fire safety regulations across the city.

He directed relevant departments to ensure that fire exits, extinguishers, and safety equipment are properly installed and maintained in all commercial and residential buildings.

The deputy commissioner also ordered the immediate removal of dangerous and illegal electricity wiring, which has been identified as a major cause of fires in crowded areas.

In addition, authorities were instructed to take action against encroachments in major commercial markets, as blocked pathways and overcrowding can make emergency response difficult.

Officials said regular inspections will continue to identify more unsafe buildings and monitor compliance with safety orders.

The administration has urged the public and business owners to cooperate with authorities and prioritize safety measures. The goal, officials said, is to reduce risks, protect lives, and improve overall infrastructure safety across Lahore.
