Mari Energies Limited has reported a new gas discovery at the Tibri-1 exploratory well located in the Kalchas South Block of Dera Bugti, Balochistan.
The company shared this development through an official notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, highlighting another positive step for Pakistan’s energy sector.
Tibri-1 is the first exploratory well drilled in this block. Drilling work started on November 11, 2025, and the well was drilled to a total depth of 7,170 feet.
According to initial test results, gas was discovered in the Dunghan and Sui Main Limestone formation, which is known for hydrocarbon potential in the region.
Early flow tests have shown gas production of up to 11 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). These initial results indicate encouraging prospects, although further testing is required to confirm the well’s full production capacity and long-term output.
The well is operated by United Energy Pakistan, while Mari Energies Limited and Dewan Petroleum are joint venture partners in the project. All partners are working closely to carry out additional evaluations and technical assessments to better understand the size and commercial viability of the discovery.
This gas discovery is considered important as it may help support Pakistan’s domestic energy supply and reduce dependence on imported fuels. New local gas finds can contribute to energy security, lower costs, and support industrial and economic activity.
Mari Energies stated that further testing and analysis are currently in progress. Once completed, these studies will provide clearer insight into the well’s production potential and the next steps for development in the Kalchas South Block.
