Rescue teams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have successfully helped thousands of people who were stranded because of heavy snowfall across the province.
According to officials, a total of 3,010 people were safely evacuated from snowbound areas. Many of them were trapped in remote locations where roads were completely blocked due to thick layers of snow.
Over a period of three days, rescue workers also cleared 942 vehicles that had been stuck on snow-covered roads. As a result, traffic movement was restored on several key routes, allowing people to travel safely again.
During the operation, hundreds of affected individuals received medical assistance on the spot. Rescue teams provided first aid and basic treatment to those suffering from cold-related issues, injuries, or other health problems caused by the harsh weather.
The large-scale rescue effort involved 535 trained personnel and 190 rescue vehicles. Heavy machinery was used to clear snow from 60 major roads and highways, ensuring access to towns, villages, and emergency services.
In addition, authorities set up 32 temporary rescue points in different affected districts. These centers offered immediate help, guidance, and medical support to travelers and local residents facing difficulties due to the snowfall.
Officials said the operation highlights the importance of preparedness and timely response during extreme winter conditions.
