According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Auqaf Department, an amount of Rs. 2 million was allocated for the meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee held to sight the Ramadan moon. The expenditure was scheduled to be presented before the provincial cabinet for formal approval.
The meeting took place on February 18 at the Auqaf Hall in Peshawar. It was chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad and attended by nearly two dozen committee members. The session was organized to officially observe the new moon and determine the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
Officials stated that the arrangements were made to ensure a proper, organized, and transparent moon-sighting process. The funds were reportedly used to manage administrative arrangements, coordination, and other logistical requirements necessary for conducting the meeting in a formal setting.
The allocation reflects the government’s efforts to facilitate religious observances through an official platform, ensuring that the announcement regarding the start of Ramadan is made in a structured and reliable manner for the public.
