Pakistan has moved to the final stage of the second phase of its 5G spectrum auction. The auction is currently ongoing, with companies bidding to secure their positions in the 3500 MHz frequency band.
The process was officially launched by Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, alongside the IT Secretary and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman.
This step is part of the country’s broader efforts to expand 5G services and improve digital connectivity for businesses and consumers.
Earlier, the PTA Chairman, Hafeez Ur Rehman, confirmed that bidding for the 2600 MHz frequency band has already been completed successfully. This means that telecom companies have already finalized their positions in this band, and the results are now pending the conclusion of the 3500 MHz band bidding.
Once both phases are complete, the results for the 2600 MHz and 3500 MHz bands will be announced together. This joint announcement will determine which telecom operators have secured the rights to use these key frequency bands for rolling out 5G services across Pakistan.
The 5G spectrum auction is a critical step in strengthening Pakistan’s telecommunications infrastructure.
It will allow companies to offer faster, more reliable internet services and support technological advancements like smart cities, digital banking, and industrial automation.
The final results are highly anticipated by the telecom sector and the public alike, as they will shape the rollout and quality of 5G services nationwide.
With the auction entering its final phase, Pakistan is one step closer to becoming a fully connected 5G-ready country, enhancing both consumer experiences and business opportunities.
