Authorities in Saudi Arabia have installed around 58,000 new carpets in the two holy mosques to improve worshippers’ comfort.
The carpets have been installed at Masjid al Haram in Makkah and Masjid al-Nabawi in Madinah as part of regular maintenance work.
According to officials from the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, about 39,400 carpets have been placed in different areas of Masjid al Haram. Many of these carpets are located in the Saudi expansion sections where large numbers of pilgrims gather for daily prayers.
The remaining carpets have been installed in Masjid e Nabawi to maintain comfort and cleanliness for visitors and residents who come for prayers.
These carpets are specially designed for the holy mosques and are made to handle heavy daily use by thousands of worshippers.
Maintenance teams at the Haramain regularly inspect the carpets to ensure they remain clean and in good condition. Damaged or worn carpets are promptly replaced to keep the prayer areas comfortable and safe.
Every year, millions of Muslims visit Makkah and Madinah for Umrah and other prayers. Providing new carpets is part of ongoing efforts by Saudi authorities to maintain high standards of cleanliness and improve facilities for pilgrims visiting the two sacred mosques.
