Iran reportedly carried out strikes on the Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar, one of the most important energy hubs in the world. The facility is home to the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal. The attack caused fires after several missile impacts were reported in the area.
Qatar’s Interior Ministry confirmed that civil defence teams were quickly sent to control a fire in the Ras Laffan region following the incident.
Officials said emergency response efforts were immediately launched to contain the situation and prevent further damage. QatarEnergy also stated that the site suffered significant damage due to the strikes.
Ras Laffan plays a major role in global energy supply, as it processes around one-fifth of the world’s LNG exports. It is also linked with major international energy companies, including ExxonMobil, Shell, and TotalEnergies, making it a key strategic location for global markets.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported because the facility had been evacuated before the attack took place. This helped avoid loss of life despite the scale of the incident.
Following the strikes, global oil markets reacted strongly. Brent crude prices increased by around 8%, reaching nearly $111.90 per barrel. The sudden rise reflects growing concerns about energy supply stability in the region.
Experts say the situation has added uncertainty to global energy markets, as any disruption in LNG production can affect supply chains worldwide. The incident is being closely monitored due to its potential impact on international energy security and pricing.
