Mari Energies Announces Gas Discoveries in Sindh

Mari Energies Limited has announced a new gas and condensate discovery from its Shams-1 exploratory well in Ghotki. The discovery is seen as a positive development for Pakistan, which has been facing energy shortages in recent years.

According to the company, the well was drilled to a depth of 3,075 meters and targeted the Lower Goru-B formation, which is known for gas reserves in the region.

During testing, the well produced around 47.98 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas along with 64 barrels per day of condensate. The well also showed a stable pressure level, indicating strong production potential.

The Shams-1 well was spud on January 30, 2026, and is part of Mari Energies’ ongoing exploration efforts. The company has a strong record, with a reported 70 percent success rate in its drilling operations. This is higher than both national and global averages, showing its technical strength in the energy sector.

Mari Energies plays an important role in Pakistan’s energy supply. It provides gas to key sectors such as fertiliser plants, power generation, and refineries. These sectors depend on a stable gas supply to support the country’s economy.

Continued exploration like this is important for meeting Pakistan’s growing energy needs.
